BEST & BEAUTIFUL PLACES TO VISIT IN ASSAM:

Assam is a NORTH-EASTERN state of INDIA. and it is situated to the south of the HIMALAYAS along the river BRAHMAPUTRA. Assam is the central state in north-east India and one of the seven sisters of north-east India.

Assam shares its border with Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram and West Bengal; and there are National Highways leading to their capital cities. It also shares international borders with Bhutan and Bangladesh. In ancient times Assam was known as Pragjyotisha.

Pointing to my personal experience, though i am from south-India,  i lived in Assam when i was in my 7th grade. My parents used to make a living there. 

Most of the days in Assam is rainy because of dense ever green forest all around you. But believe me the greenery, tea-plantations, the natural scenery fills the heart and eyes  Assam is home for various cultures, crafts, people following various faiths. Simply known for its's wild life, temples, cultures.

Assam is mostly known for:

KAZIRANGA NATIONAL PARK:

Assam is Home to two-thirds of the world's one horned rhinoceros population, this national park has been declared as a World Heritage Site.

Majuli:

Majuli is a lush green environment friendly, pristine and pollution free fresh water island in the river Brahmaputra, just 20 km from the city of Jorhat.

GUWAHATI:

Guwahati is Situated on the banks of Brahmaputra river & Guwahati is one of the fastest growing cities in India.

BHRAMAPUTRA RIVER:

Well the brahmaputra river is the major river that wets the whole land and it is beautiful to see the ships sailing on the river.

DIGBOI:

Digboi is famous for refinery, oil rig and this place is nearer to DIBRUGARH. I visited this place with my friends for a study tour on behalf of my school. This place is really awesome. I saw the Oil refinery. This oil refinery in DIGBOI is known as the Asia's first oil refinery and is second in the world. This place not only has a refinery which is more than 100 years old but also green tea gardens all around.

FUNNY note (may not be true): As during the study tour in the refinery, my friends and i asked the workers  how the name was given to the refinery as "DIGBOI"? the answer was really funny as they said that the refinery was named after the mahout and his  elephant.....they said that once the refinery was a jungle and people used to cross the jungle by means of elephants. and some how one day the mahout saw his elephant's foot print, and the crude oil was popping out of the foot prints and they found the place with treasure(oil), so he quoted his elephant to dig more oil out as "DIG BOY DIG" so as the name "DIGBOI." 

BIHU:

Bihu is the chief festival in the Assam state of India. It refers to a set of three different festivals: Rongali or Bohag Bihu observed in April, Kongali or Kati Bihu observed in October, and Bhogali or Magh Bihu observed in January. The musical instrument , mostly used for bihu dance is DHOL.

TEA GARDENS:

Assam tea is a black tea named after the region of its production, Assam, in India. It is also traditionally used in Yunnan province in China. Assam tea is manufactured specifically from the plant Camellia sinensis var. assamica.
The both sides of famous river, Brahmaputra, constitute the world's largest Tea growing area. Full bodied and malty flavored Assam Tea offers bright liquor that is enjoyed by all Tea drinkers.

I recommend you guys to personally taste the freshly obtained tea from farm and taste it, I am sure it tastes delicious.
