The Northern lights how do they cause?

Have you ever wondered how these lights appear in the skies..?

The stunning display of moving lights that appears in the skies of North Pole and the South fills the heart and soul.
These lights could stretch from horizone to horizone, and shifts through various greenish, bluish colours.
The lights which appears in north are called as aurora borealis and the south lights are called as aurora australis.
These lights are mainly caused by two things the first one is due to the intense activity of the sun and the earth magnetic field is the second reason behind the stunning display of the moving lights in skies.

The sun emits a constant stream of charged particles known as the Solar wind and these particles race towards Earth, most of them are turn aside by the Earth's magnetic field and go around the planet however some particles do leak into the earth's upper atmosphere where they collide with atoms of air to produce the colorful display known as the northern lights.

The same phenomenon occurs in the Antarctic region where it is known as the Aurora australis or southern lights. The display of light takes many shapes such as arcs, bands coronas, curtains and rays, which moves about with remarkable speed and beauty.
